As Stacy said, give it a try, that’s the best advice. Not sure if ARMA has distributors of them but you can find the. I’m drawing a blank on where we got ours, I didn’t order them sorry.
Here’s a pic of one of the polearm simulators, you can gauge how well you can break that shaft. I’m not sure ...

Thanks Stacy
now that I look through most of my texts, the area that specifically talks about sword vs Bayonet are the author's notes not specific texts of sword vs bayonet. Almost all the texts be it on bayonet or sword will address fighting the other weapon but a specific text on sword vs bayonet ...

There are some very valid points they are making and you shouldn’t discount them due to the things they get wrong.
Vs. Plate (and to an extent chain) a sword is not the optimum weapon. You can’t cut steel (there are some videos of what happens when you cut chain…nothing) thus the damage done with ...

I think you will find the bartitsu guys already have a cane that works just fine, no need to get too far out there. Most of the mass is centered in the large weight that is your hand grip on the cane, if you hold that end you have a quick thrusting weapon, but if you hold the other end and swing ...

Not to dissuade you from the study of longsword or any older arts, but what you are looking for is Bartitsu, cane fighting for city environments…19th-20th C stuff.

I was going ask which is more important to you, the armor or the sword? Swords actually became more useful in war when guns became more predominate/armor was dropped. By the early 1800’s the line cavalry was issued a sword as a primary weapon rather than a secondary weapon. When we drop armor and ...

A few threads below this one is one entitled ‘new test cutting video,’ watch that video. You will see what is takes to get through standard chain armor, now you are planning on armoring these people in plate that is far stronger than our metal. The point I’m trying to get at is you don’t cut armor ...

Before you over complicate things, or I guess let me over complicate it for you: first understand what are you doing cutting practice or are you training for a fight? In cutting practice go ahead and be concerned about if/when you step. In a fight stepping is more an aspect of managing your distance ...

Speaking from an Italian perspective,
Italian is about seizing the center line. There is not a need to be aggressive, but more a need to understand the situation and how to deal with it, if he is aggressive yield to it rather than fight it and gain your victory that way (fight a bull as a matador ...

Taking the small sword and explaining how it is ill suited for war is about as inaccurate as saying the small sword is the pinnacle of sword designs period. The small sword was the pinnacle of dueling swords for the time period and since I’ve fought small swords with a rapier I will attest they can ...
