I wonder where those Landsknecht reenactors from Ashville got their pikes from?I know I have seen people talk more about polearms and bows on MyArmoury.com---seen in the links page. I have been working on staff lately and archery off and on for many years, but have no authentic bow---if only i could have afforded that beautiful yew longbow at Ohio RenFest last year...
happy hunting
Meyer has a whole chapter, with wonderfully detailed woodcuts and instruction, on how to use the staff, halberd and pike. If you want personal staff training, at our April 2007 Meyer seminar Jake Norwood will be teaching the staff according Mr. Meyer.I picked up a practice halberd (8 foot length) from Purple Heart Armory and bought an extra head to put on my 6 foot staff, making a polaxe. I've been looking for some good fightbooks to use in working up a study guide, but other than the Le Jeu de la Hache, I'm not finding a whole lot to work with. Any help in pointing me towards some reference material would be greatly appreciated. I am also reading David Lindholm's book on the quarterstaff.
David Knight and myself have a book coming out from Paladin in the near future that is a translation of Paulus Hector Mair's polearms material. It contaings both Halberd and poleaxe in it. When we have a known release date for the book, we will announce it.I picked up a practice halberd (8 foot length) from Purple Heart Armory and bought an extra head to put on my 6 foot staff, making a polaxe.
