They have a 16th century version of Talhoffer, this I remember, as it was a surprise, as otherwise it was "unknown" as it was not in Hils or any other bibliography of fechtbucher. I have the catalog of the exhibit, I will check if there were others on display. Also, I can check and see if I can contact the curator, but you might just call the Met and ask, his name is La Rocca.I am not sure how much is theirs, but a few years back they did a whole exhibit in the side room on fetchbooks.
Seth, I recommend for your visit, if just for the armor, you call or contact them, indicate you are a serious researcher, and see if you can get any special attention. It would help if you could provide some bona fides to them at the time. I used to know people, but I haven't lived in NYC for quite some time.Hello everyone. I was just wondering does anyone know if the Metropolitan Museum in New York City holds any of the Fechtbuchs or manuscripts or any primary source material we study for that matter? I will be visiting the museum on vacation next week and just figured I'd ask. I saw that they had quite the collection of armor and swords there and had manuscripts. Thanks for any reply guys.
