BTW I've always wondered if you had a crossbow disarmament technique?

Exactly why I would add that step offline - slap to the left, step to the right. Jerking a gun around in someone's hand with their finger on the trigger doesn't sound real great to me either, but neither does leaving the decision up to them. I'd probably prefer to try and take control over where the gun's pointing than hope I can make them let go of it without likelihood of a second chance. I've noticed that most dagger disarms in the manuals don't occur until you have the weapon arm well under control, and I would think the same should apply to guns; just seems like a higher percentage chance of success. Of course in that situation nothing really sounds great, you just have to pick the choice that sounds the least bad.Stacy -
My husband Jim, who is in law enforcement, also taught me this technique but we only did it against a knife. It is extremely effective and easy to learn - if he can show me....
However against a gun I wouldn't feel quite so comfortable - you have to be very close and in front of the assailant - something about the immediacy of the trigger finger....
True, however there are many other techniques which he has shown me where you get control of the gun in a safer manner.Quite frankly I wouldn't feel comfortable no matter what if a gun was pointed at me. In fact, I'd be scared. I know because I had a guy pull a gun on me when I was 15.
But anything is better than laying down and letting them kill you.
I have used and tested many gun takeaway techniques. It would be interesting to know if some of the knife defenses would work against guns. Some of the arm bars seem like they could be useful.
I don't know that I would want to try that one vs. a modern repeating firearm.Interestingly, I found this recently:
