Hello,
I am fencer from Czech republic and because my girl-friend becomes stewardess here I am searching for a work in UK (optimal near Liverpool). I dont know situation about professional fencing in UK... it is possible working as professional fencer here?
I am 22, fencer with experience in performing (shows on castles, historical festivals, film making - Prince Kaspian and so on), archery, fight without weapon.
Thank you for your answer and advices.
Kind regardes

For historical swordsmenship in the UK I would hightly suggest contacting Matt Easton of the Schola Gladiatoria (http://www.fioredeiliberi.org/training/).

Jiri,
I don't know if Matt would actually be able to help - you may be better contacting the BFHS (www.bfhs.org) for historical fencing or the British Fencing Association for modern sports fencing.
(PS: It's difficult to be a professional historical fencer over here - insurance will be the main problem).
Thanks,
Mark

Yo!
What Mark said above.
If you can find a place where it is cheap to live but there are lots of people wanting to pay money to learn historical fencing, then you may be in luck. It's not easy to do that in the UK though, due to the cost of living, and most full-time fencing teachers I can think of in Europe either have lots of money to start with or have very supportive wives/girlfriends.
You also have to remember that whatever you charge your students, you will be competing with people who teach as a hobby and therefore don't have to charge so much.
Regards,
Matt
