I:33 questions (please help)

Post by Benjamin Parker »

Would the techniques have been used by Milites ('Knights')? Would they have been usable from horseback? How would they be changed if they were used from horseback? How would having a shield (like a thureos) strapped on to the offarm have affected fighting with the techniques shown in the I:33?

Since the swords depicted are similiar to a Byzantine Spathion would the Byzantine have used techniques like the ones depicted in the I:33?

-Thanks

1) maybe

2)98% not.

3)This is a completely hypothetical question. Horse combat is extremely different than foot combat. Youtube has a few videos on Rozfechten(sp?) that shows this. They would need to change to the point of barely being recognized if they continued to exist at all.

4)Very much. staping it to the arm opens some doors and closes others, but generally you will lose the mobility that a buckler requires in favor of other options.

5)I actually read an interesting article somewhere that suggested that there might possibly been a shared knowlege of S&B between the two groups. I'm not sure where though.

Not sure if the appropriate German spelling is with that crazy capital Beta, a z, or two s's in regards to the spelling of Rozfechten.

In modern German "Horse" is "Ross", so that's at least one indication towards "Rossfechten".
