I was wondering if Ubisoft got their combat from the historic manuals. What do you all think? Does the fighting look like anything from the treatises?

There are SOME finishing moves and other little concepts, particularly in AC:II and AC:B, that kinda sorta look like some of the plays from the manuals.

Other than that, its typical Hollywood Flynning

To summarize in brief; almost nothing of the fighting in Assassins Creed is particularly realistic. So no, not really.

Personally, I think not. The fighting in assassin creed is still different from martial arts.
