The Onion: Vor & Nach flow exercises
Following a longsword workshop I have held a few times, last at WMAW and in York, here is the first part of a new and quite extensive series of "Onion" articles, focusing on striking and displacing attacks in the Vor & Nach, as well as many other topics. Basically it will cover a lot of the basic concepts any beginner needs to learn, while hopefully also discussing some finer nuances that are of interest to the advanced student as well.

Been a while and it is a little late, but here is the new Onion-article, number 7, on the topic of tactics and strategy. This is a topic little discussed in older treatises but which Meyer advises frequently on in his treatises. Hope you find it interesting:

After a bit of a break from the Onion series of articles I am now bringing it back by releasing a new article on the topic of "deception".
Also, due to some comments about waiting for the actual exercises connected to the article series and since the topic have expanded quite a bit, I decided to rename the series to "The Onion - Basics of European Longsword".
Exercises will still be included in the series, but several concepts need to be explained still, for the exercises to be performed correctly with the many aspects, the *onion layers*, of them in mind.

With apologies for the delay in posting last week's article, here is a new article in the Onion series on basic German longsword. This time the topic is "stances". I hope you like it!
Halfway through this series now and very close to actually shooting some videos, starting with the next article.

I am releasing this article a bit early as it is relevant to the longsword workshop I am holding together with Robert Molin at Swordfish this weekend. The topic this time is "Shifting grips" and it actually finally includes a video.
