I'm in school right now studying metalsmithing and history. I was wondering if anyone knew where one could go to apprentice a swordsmith.

I'm in central Oklahoma. But distance isn't that big a factor. I'm certainly willing to travel.

The American Bladesmithing Society has a school in Hope Arkansas in conjuction with Texarkana college. They frequently have basic sword making classes offered each summer. This would be a good place to start. I do believe you do have to have a couple of prerequsite classes before you can take the sword class. They are all taught by master blade smiths and it is a wonderful experience. I believe they are getting ready to wind down their classes with the fall hammer in this month. I do not know if there is a website or not, but by picking up a copy of Blade magazine you should be able to find them advertised in there.
