In normal sparring i usualy thrust at mid chest all the way to the face, so i would say that is about the rigth height.

The center of mass (chest & belly) is in most cases the easiest target if it is opened. However, the head and upper legs are also important targets when thrusting from a bind. So be sure to include in your practice high thrusts to your pell about the height of the head and low thrusts to about the height of the upper legs. In any case, practice thrusting at small targets, it will make hitting bigger targets much easier in sparring.

Since we train outside, we use an easily portable setup of two tennis balls connected by a length of rope. Thrown over a branch, you get two targets at chest level or one high, one low, depending on how you distribute the rope. I feel that variety is the key here, unless you know an enemy that always stands the same way, without moving.
