yeah it is cheaper but i the quality is also cheap....
Ummm.....no. BudK in general only sells SLO (Sword Like Objects). However, on a product like this you get the same quality as the manufacture itself. While I think this particular product is crap from a user's perspective it is actually a good quality product if you're going for durability etc.

Yeah, in this case, the fact that it's cold steel avoids the usual issue of BudK's abysmal Chinese sweatshop grinding plants....and replaces it with the mediocrity of Cold Steel's highly industrialized and modern Chinese sweatshop injection-molding plants....

Right now if you go to "Cold Steel Special Projects" (dont go to just Cold Steel) you can get the Hand and a Half sword for $29.99 and with $100 purchase you get a few free thing (and that price) until Jan 30th and unless the promotion has ended there was also free shipping on orders over $100. Me and a few friends are going in together and are each getting one for a straight $30! (that is if the shipping promotion is still on) I have been reading the good and the bad about these but for $30 ? Really? The price is a huge plus for me! I am trying to order Hickory to make my Great Sword Waster and the wood along (shipped) will cost me $20, and then I have to make it.
A warrior may choose pacifism; others are condemned to it.
I've had several of these for awhile now, having purchased one each of the hand-and-a-halfs and daggers for myself and my two sons circa Christmas '09.
Having just watched the video, it looks like he may have incorrectly assembled the sword. Mine has no shelf at the grip end of the crossguard. While I agree that the pommel is rather more pointy than my hand approves of, the grip is fairly comfortable and tapers smoothly into the crossguard.
Of course, I'm coming fresh into ARMA here, and haven't done any serious sparring with the blades
On a side note, I do own one of the Blackthorn canes, and it's a great piece of kit and my primary defensive weapon these days.
