Sheath is a sheath, like any other just bigger to match the blade depending. There are depictions of great swords on the hip like single handed ones and might have been stored on the side of a horse's saddle. I'm sure they were oiled and kept clean on a regular basis. Wouldn't surprise me if there were inspections of some kind, either informally of the older checking up on the younger or formally with leadership checking up once and a while.Hi there, I was wondering what the sheathes of bigger sword types looked like, and how they were carried and prevented from rusting and such while in the field. How were those carried? How were they stowed? Thanks!
